JUDO star Edward Burnie is hoping to conquer Europe in 2016.
The Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College student, 12, who is the North West Judo Champion at Under 34kg, is working towards securing a place in the Great Britain Cadet Squad next year.
Edward will be the old enough to compete in ranking events this year which could lead to a GB spot for next year and this, in turn, could lead to European fixtures in the future.
“It’s a case of going to a ranking event and securing a place in the GB squad,” said the Bacup Judo Club star who is an orange belt.
“That would mean such a lot as it would mean I could compete in Europe.”
Edward had already had around 30 bouts in his judo career, which he started when he was six.
“It was something I just tried out and I loved it,” he added.
