HARVEY ‘Hurricane’ Fletcher maintained his unbeaten record after the young Sandygate ABC fighter inflicted the first defeat on Halifax’s John Fawthrop in his own backyard.

Both fighters went in to the bout with 100 per cent records so something had to give - and it was the talented Burnley boxer who kept his intact at Halifax ABC’s spacious gym.

It was a cautious start from both fighters but once Fletcher found his range from behind his jab, he started to dominate proceedings catching the taller Fawthrop with his lead rear combinations.

The second round was to be the Unity College year 8 pupils best, coming out of the corner with intent his dominance showed as he once again kept centre keeping to boxing with straight powerful lead rear hands, covering and countering every advance.

The third and final saw the Halifax boxer sense he was behind on the scorecards and try and push forward but the Burnley boxer wasn’t to be fazed.

It was to applause when the MC announced the winner in unanimous favour of Sandygate’s still unbeaten in five schoolboy ‘Hurricane’ Harvey.

Brett Windle, 16, the 2014 4 North West champion made a triumphant return to the ring with a convincing points victory over Ben Kahil from Bredbury & Stockport ABC at The Lighthouse, Salford.

The Burnley boxer dominated all three rounds, finishing with a flourish, working to the body, switching and feinting then landing with precision, Meanwhile, England Junior Novice Champion Brendan ‘BamBam’ Collins celebrated his 16th birthday Sunday training.

Collins took part in a national talent squad day at Larches & Savick ABC gym in Preston which was run by Commonwealth Gold medal winner Scott Fitzgerald’s coach Dave Fitzgerald.
