FORMER England boss Glenn Hoddle has backed Danny Ings to succeed at one of the Premier League’s top clubs – as reports suggested that Manchester United could now be in pole position to sign the Burnley striker.
Ings is expected to leave Turf Moor when his contract expires this summer and has already attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Real Sociedad, flying out to Spain for talks with David Moyes last month.

There have been suggestions that the 22-year-old favoured a move to Liverpool but further reports at the weekend suggested that United could swoop for the forward as a replacement for Radamel Falcao.
Ings has also put himself in contention for an England call-up with his form in his debut Premier League campaign, with Roy Hodgson set to announce his squad later this week for upcoming matches against Lithuania and Italy.
The former Bournemouth forward is tipped to miss out on this occasion along with ex-Clarets ace Charlie Austin, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane expected to get the nod.
Ings could instead feature for the under 21s in their games against the Czech Republic and Germany.
But former England boss Hoddle has seen enough of Ings to believe that the former Bournemouth man is destined for big things at one of the country’s biggest clubs.
“He’s a very astute and clever player, aware of what’s going on around him in midfield and around the penalty box,” Hoddle said.
“His movement and technical ability are good.
“Ings looks to go in behind the defender and to face up and receive the ball.
“He has a bit of pace as well. Here is a player who will really flourish if he ends up at Liverpool, Arsenal or Manchester United because of the amount of chances he’ll get there.
“He has a big future.”
