BLACKBURN Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes is a transfer target for four rival Championship clubs.

Middlesbrough have made an offer to take Rhodes on loan for the reminder of the season before paying a fee for a services in the summer – but only on the condition they go up to the Premier League.

And fourth-placed Boro, who are level on points with the three teams at the top of the table, are not the only Championship club who have enquired about the 25-year-old’s availability.

Gary Bowyer yesterday stated that he has no intention of letting Rhodes, who has scored 66 goals in 131 appearances at Ewood Park since his club record £8m move from Huddersfield Town, including 13 this season, leave on loan.

The Rovers boss also confirmed that the Scotland international will be recalled to his starting line-up for tonight’s clash at home to Bolton Wanderers after being an unused substitute in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final 0-0 draw at Liverpool.

Any decision over Rhodes will ultimately be made by Venky’s.

Rovers’ owners, who have been made aware of Boro’s bid, turned down a club record offer for Rhodes from Hull City in August after they awarded him a lucrative new five-year contract.

Had Venky’s accepted that offer it would have boosted the club’s coffers by more than £10m and also led to a Hull player making the move from the KC Stadium.

But they rejected it as they wanted to give the club the best chance of winning promotion.

Should Rovers win tonight they would close the gap on the play-off places to 11 points.

Bowyer, who has not given up on the top six, said: “We’ve got 11 league games left and an FA Cup quarter-final replay, with a visit to Wembley if we are successful, so why we would to be letting of our players go at this stage is beyond me.”
