BURNLEY remain 19th in the Premier League table with 10 games to go after falling to a 2-0 defeat at Anfield.
Liverpool are the Premier League’s most in-form team since Christmas and they ran out comfortable winners after having to wait to break the deadlock against a dogged Burnley side.
The Clarets have earned a reputation for their impressive performances against the bigger teams this season, but they struggled to show their usual attacking verve in this game.
Instead goals from Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge condemned Sean Dyche’s side to defeat.
This was a 14th consecutive game without a clean sheet for Burnley, who had kept five in their first 17 games of the campaign, but are now without a shutout since December 13.
Having seen Aston Villa win to move above them on Tuesday night, the Clarets knew they were starting one of the season’s tougher assignments just one from bottom in the table.
That is where they remain after this defeat, but Leicester and QPR were also beaten to limit the damage.
