BLACKBURN Rovers are taking inspiration from Norwich as they refuse to give up on their play-off dream.

Rovers sit 16 points behind the top six with only 12 games remaining and have not won in four matches since they shocked Stoke City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

But Alex Baptiste took heart from Saturday’s 0-0 draw at fifth-placed Bournemouth and insists Rovers’ hopes of making the play-offs are not yet over as they prepare to take on Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough tonight.

The defender points to Norwich’s run of form since Alex Neil took charge at the start of January, which has lifted them into automatic promotion contention.

“I’m thinking that we can still do it,” Baptiste said.

“You’ve seen what happened with Norwich.

“They were level with us when Alex Neil took over, eight wins out of 10 and they’re two points off the top.

“It’s all to play for but it’s no secret that we need to start turning the draws into wins. There are still plenty of games left.

“We defended really well on Saturday but it means nothing if we concede two or three goals at Sheffield Wednesday.”

Rovers travel to Hillsborough tonight to face a Sheffield Wednesday side managed by Stuart Gray.

The Owls were recently taken over by Thai businessman Dejphon Chansiri.

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer said of tonight’s opponents and his opposite number: “Stuart done a fabulous job there and he must be getting excited for the summer coming because he’s got new owners who are vowing to put money in.”
