I KNOW Gary Bowyer came out after the defeat to Wolves on Sunday and said that the booing during and after the game was not good.

That’s understandable but at the end of the day he’s got to put 11 players out there who will perform and entertain.

If he does that then that will give the fans something to sing about and not boo.

Sunday proved that Gary’s honeymoon period is over, he’s an old-hand as Blackburn Rovers manager now.

But we’ve got to remember his has been a hard job, he’s still trying to put things right, and that’s why we’ve got to stick behind him.

He was brought in to stabilise the club at the same time as getting performances out of the team and so far I’d say he’s done all right at doing that.

That’s why I believe we should give him the benefit and hopefully we’ll see better performances soon.

We certainly need to see them.

We’re six points off the play-offs now and while we’re not a million miles away, and while there’s still a long way to go, the performance and result against us on Sunday was the worst way to start 2015.

The main problem against Wolves appeared to be the lack of width.

If you’ve got two wide midfielders coming in all the time then the width has to come from your full-backs.

That means one of your central midfielders then has to be very clever and very astute in sitting and holding.

It means you defend with a triangle of two centre-halves and a central-midfielder.

But I don’t think we defend it well and that may be a reflection on the way the two centre-halves are playing.

Grant Hanley is an out-an-out defender but then so is Shane Duffy.

Normally you would pair one with a centre-half who is more technical.

But at the moment we’ve got two centre-halves who are very similar in the way they play and the fans are not happy with the way they are performing.

It’s a far cry from when Grant’s on the international stage with Scotland, which is a step above the Championship.

He plays with the boy from Norwich City, Russell Martin, who’s a clever player, and the two of them have done really and formed a great partnership.

It will be interesting to see whether Gary changes it for Wigan on Saturday.

It is really is a massive game for Blackburn and despite the quality Wigan have got, we have to be beating teams down the bottom.

Fingers crossed the players get their mentality right and are up for it because they’ve got to go there and perform.
