BURNLEY are one of five Premier League clubs interested in Bournemouth star Steve Cook, the Lancashire Telegraph understands.

But the 23-year-old isn’t thought to be keen on a move to Turf Moor at this stage.

It is understood he doesn’t particularly want a move to the north west, while he is also uncertain about moving to a Premier League club for whom survival isn’t guaranteed, with Bournemouth currently in a strong position to secure promotion from the Championship.

Cook, a defender who can play centrally or at right-back, has been a key member of the Cherries side that tops the Championship table, playing every minute of the league campaign so far this season for Eddie Howe’s side.

He joined Bournemouth for £150,000 in January 2012 and has made 122 appearances for the south coast club.

Sean Dyche’s only signing of the transfer window so far has been a defender, with Michael Keane making his loan move from Manchester United permanent, although a deal for the 22-year-old was put in place when he joined the club on a temporary basis on September 1.

There have still been no bids this transfer window for Danny Ings, with the Clarets continuing talks over a new contract for the striker.

“It’s an ongoing negotiation, as it is with a lot of players,” said Dyche of the Ings situation.

“We get on well with his agent.

“There’s a lot made of agents but there’s some very good ones out there that you can talk to freely and openly, everyone knows where it is, and I think we’ve got that with all of our players.”
