BLACKBURN’S transfer embargo should not impact upon Gary Bowyer’s plans for the window too much as, you’ve got to ask, how many would he have got in January anyway?
One or two maybe as I imagine he’s pretty happy with the squad he has got at the moment.
And, as long as that squad stays intact until the end of the season, when the club will be able to let more players on big money leave, Gary should have enough to challenge.
But to do that Blackburn are going to have to play a lot better than they did at Brentford. It was a really bad afternoon.
Take nothing away from Brentford, they really impressed me.
The movement they had in midfield was very good, they pressed well, putting the Blackburn defence and midfield under a lot of pressure, giving them no time on the ball no matter what part of the park it was.
But Blackburn gifted them three goals in what was a very poor defensive performance.
Yes it was individual mistakes that did for them but you can’t just look at the back four because as a unit they just didn’t do their jobs.
But, as I say, credit to Brentford, their midfield movement must have come as a shock to Blackburn’s midfielders as they were cashing shadows at times.
They’ve just got to put it to bed and try and return to winning ways at home to Charlton tomorrow.
It’s not going to be an easy game because the Addicks are doing pretty well and they don’t lose too many.
But Blackburn have really got to be beating them because losing games can become as much as a habit as winning games and they will not want that four-point gap to the play-off places getting any bigger.
I’m sure Jordan Rhodes will be back in the starting line-up tomorrow and I wonder whether it’s time to restore David Dunn too.
Maybe he’s no longer able to last the 90 minutes but, as we saw against Brentford, he’s still got so much quality on the ball.
