ON-FIRE Blackburn Rovers frontman Rudy Gestede believes he is going to score every time he sets foot on to the pitch.
Gestede notched his 10th goal of the season to earn Rovers a 1-1 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday that extended their unbeaten run to seven matches.

And, such is the confidence flowing through him and such is his faith in his team-mates to feed him, he reckons his hot streak can continue after the international break.
“At the moment I know I’m going to score in any game, against anybody,” said Gestede, whose stupendous header against the Seagulls hauled him level with Britt Assombalonga, Chris Martin and Daryl Murphy at the top of the Championship scoring charts.
“I don’t mind, I’m not scared of any defender.
“We’ve got a good team and I know I’ve got good players behind me who are going to feed me.”
Gestede has scored five goals in four games since being dropped to the bench for the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest last month.
On Saturday it was the turn of his strike-partner Jordan Rhodes to be taken out of the firing line as Rovers boss Gary Bowyer deployed a similar system to the one he initially used at the City Ground.
It was the first time that Rhodes, who hit 28 goals in his first season at Ewood Park and 25 in his second, had not started a league match since January 18.
But Gestede has no doubt the feared forward will soon be back in the team and soon on a scoring run of his own.
“He’s got five goals this season and maybe in the next five games he’s going to score five more goals because he’s able to do everything,” said the Benin international, who has been named in his national team’s squad for their friendly with Morocco in Agadir on Thursday.
“He’s a very good striker, an amazing goalscorer who has proved this before, and he’s going to score 20 goals this season, I’m not afraid about this.
“The manager gave him a rest, that’s his choice, he knows what he’s doing and Jordan was good with this. He’s a professional and he will come back stronger and will score goals.
“I knew when I came on against Forest I wanted to score. I scored and I’ve been on a good run since, I’ve scored five goals behind this.
“The manager knows what he’s doing, we’ve got confidence in him and we believe in him.”
Gestede was told after Saturday’s game that his equaliser, brilliantly headed in from an inviting Markus Olsson cross, could be taken off him as there was a suggestion the ball hit Brighton goalkeeper Christian Walton before crossing the line.
“Hopefully it’s my goal, I heard it was an own goal but I don’t think so and I’m going to claim it,” said Gestede, who has fired 22 goals in 37 appearances for Rovers since his £200,000 January move from Cardiff City.
“It was a good cross from and Markus and I headed it in and it got us back into the game.
“It wasn’t that easy, Brighton did well to be fair, but after half-time we stuck together, pushed forward and scored like we always we do.
“It was a good point, a good away point.”
