DEFIANT skipper Jason Shackell says Burnley will continue to prove the critics wrong after the Clarets recorded their first win of the Premier League season against Hull City.
Ashley Barnes' goal gave Sean Dyche's side a 1-0 victory over Hull at Turf Moor on Saturday as they finally claimed their first victory in the top flight at the 11th attempt.

Burnley's winless run at the start of the season had seen many pundits write off the club's chances of survival in the Premier League but Shackell says that has only given the squad more motivation.
"Keep writing us off and we'll keep trying to prove people wrong," said the captain.
"We're used to that. We were used to that last year. We got written off last year at the start of the season, the middle of the season when we were up there and even at the end, people thought we were going to drop away.
"We're used to it and it's been the same this season. It does galvanise us as a group.
"We know what we believe and we believe we're good enough to stay in this league."
Shackell made no attempts to play down the significance of Burnley's first win of the season, which came as the Premier League now goes into a two-week international break. The Clarets' next match is at Stoke City on November 22.
"It's huge to get this win and get this monkey off our backs," he said.
"Hopefully people won't be talking about it now. We've got a nice little break now to regroup, get together and we'll be ready to go again.
"We don't give up, we stick to our beliefs. We know we are going to get results, so it was nice to get the victory.
"Winning breeds confidence and confidence makes you go the extra yard.
"We can play without fear and hopefully it's going to lead to a few more positive results."
Despite all the talk about Burnley going 10 matches without victory, Shackell insists the players themselves did not discuss the run too much.
"No, we like to think we've remained as positive as we can," he said.
"Obviously it's hard when you're losing games, it affects everybody. The confidence might start to go, but everyone has tried to remain positive. It's been a good place to work still.
"We knew we weren't far off. We had a few poor performances, but on the whole, we've been happy with how we've played.
"It's just nice to turn one of those performances into a win.
"If we can put two or three wins together then it will be a different picture.
"We're positive, we'll take one game at a time. This win has come at a good time.
"We can regroup and look forward to the Stoke game."
