BURNLEY goalkeeper Tom Heaton insists he is not putting particular emphasis on the club’s next four games – despite their urgent need for victories.

The Clarets host Hull City on Saturday and then have back to back home games against Aston Villa and Newcastle United following a trip to Stoke City.

Burnley are yet to win in 10 Premier League matches this season and sit bottom of the table, but Heaton is reluctant to describe it as a critical phase of the campaign.

“I try not to think about it like that,” he said.

“They’re all critical games. If we don’t win it we go to the next one and win the next one, it’s that sort of mentality.

“Obviously with three out of four home games you look at it on paper and think to yourself it would be great to go and get a win, but we go to every away game trying to get a win.

“We’ll take one game at a time. It’s Hull City next and we’ll be going into that game trying to get a win.”

The Clarets were beaten 3-0 at Arsenal on Saturday and Heaton says the squad must learn quickly rather than just accept that they cannot compete with such sides.

“It was frustrating on Saturday but it’s important that we move forward, take that learning and the growth forward and try to get some results,” he said.

“This is where we want to compete, this is the level that I want to play at and all the lads want to play at, so it’s important that we learn quickly and get up to speed.

“Once we put everything together and perhaps get that one win, hopefully the foundation will be in place then to build on that. It’s important that we keep moving forward.”

Burnley welcomed back Dean Marney from a hamstring problem at Arsenal on Saturday and Heaton believes the midfielder’s return alongside David Jones can make a difference in the next few matches.

“Deano’s a massive player and once you get the partnership of Jonesy and Deano in the middle, it’s massive,” the keeper said.

“It’s the engine room of the team, whether that’s defensive or offensive, between them they’re very good for us.

“It was great to have him back and I thought he was outstanding for his first game back in on a tough day.”
