VIP opened up a six point lead at the top of the Premier Office Supplies Division One of the Blackburn With Darwen Snooker League.
The VIP’s beat Longshaw A by the somewhat flattering scoreline of 7-1.
With a few black ball finishes it could well have been a different story but, as usual, the side playing well took full advantage of the run they got.
The addition of Murad Iqbal and Haider Ali seems to have galvanised Jake Fuller’s men into genuine title contenders.
Longshaw’s only point of the night came courtesy of John Gaul with a black ball victory over Dion Holcroft.
Punch shook off their shaky start to the campaign with a fine 7-1 win away at Cherry Tree.
Punch got off to the perfect start with good wins from Paul Wilkins and Jimmy Cummins. Andy Stone was a little unfortunate against Ian Harle knocking in the black from a pot red. Harle pounced and pinched it.
Punch skipper Jamie Ridsdale sealed things with an easy win against Baz Holden and it was big Steve Williams who won Cherry Tree’s only point.
Longshaw B faced a tricky trip to bogey side Hoddlesden Con Club but finally managed to come away with a win.
Chris Lawson was unfortunate to lose the first for the visitors against Steve Hill. Craig Steele levelled things up in the next and an easy doubles win for Steele and Lawson gave Longshaw a 2-1 lead.
George Holden made hard work of his win against Jim Ollerton to give his side a two frame lead.
Alan Heaton also seemed to be heading for an easy win against Dave Eastham until the Hoddlesden man found some form at the very end to run out the colours and pinch it.
Victory in the doubles for Holden and Gaz Hampson restored the visitors two frame advantage before Jake Loftus turned in a superb potting display against Hampson to make it 4-3.
Once again it was left to Jonny Hannan to try and win it for Longshaw and he duly disposed of Joe Roebuck to give Longshaw their first victory at Hoddlesden for 7 years.
Park continued their steady start to the season with a 5-3 victory against Blackburn Golf Club A.
Danny Haworth got Park off the mark with a comfortable win over Craig Leach thanks to a nice run of 40. Steve Aspinall took the next by the narrowest of margins. 40-39 against Golfers new boy Dom O'Doherty.
When Aspinall and Ste Sweeney took the opening pairs and Sweeney the next singles Park were cruising at 4-0. Barry Pease kept the Golfers in touch with a good win against Mick Almond but Haworth and partner Mark Jennings took the last doubles to give Park the 5 frames needed for victory before the Golf Club surprisingly took the last 2 frames with good wins for Dave Smedley against Baz O'Kane and Chris Nutter who beat Park Skipper Mark Jennings.
