WHALLEY Juniors Under 13s won the game of the day in the Accrington and District Junior Boys League beating Globe Bullough Park in their top of the table clash in convincing fashion.
Both teams went in to the clash on 19 points with identical records of played six, won five, drawn one, lost one.
But it was Whalley who underlined their championship hopes with an impressive 6-1 win against their title rivals.
Michael Dale scored twice for the new outright leaders with George Ellison, Harry Wilkinson, Owen Hulme and Matt Stephenson also on target.
Usman Ditta was man of the match for Whalley who are now three points clear.
Third-placed Mill Hill White took advantage of Globe’s defeat to cut the gap on second place to just one points following their 5-0 win at Huncoat United Black.
Rishton United remain in touch with the leading pack following tier 7-1 victory over Clitheroe Wolves.
There were goals galore in the final two games in the age group.
Huncoat United White beat Feniscowles and Pleasington 7-3 while Wilpshire Wanderers went one better, beating Greyhound Juniors 8-3.
There was only one game played in the Under 14s age group and leaders Wilpshire Wanderers Black extended their lead at the top of the table to six points following a convincing 12-0 win against Globe Bullough Park.
It is tight at the top of the Under 15s age group with three teams locked on 21 points.
With leaders Rossendale United not in action, Oswaltwistle Rangers and Rossendale Valley Wasps joined them at the summit following wins on Saturday.
Rangers edged a 3-2 win against Clitheroe Wolves while the Wasps won 4-2 at Rishton United.
Feniscowles and Pleasington made it five wins out of seven thanks to a 8-1 win against Rossendale Valley Tigers.
Under 12s leaders Padiham Saints made it seven wins out of seven with an emphatic 8-1 win against Blackburn Eagles Blue.
Langho Juniors are second, three points behind but have played two games more, after they beat Wilpshire Wanderers Red 2-0.
Great Harwood Rovers are up to fifth place following their impressive 7-0 win against Huncoat United.
And Wilpshire Wanderers Blue Globe Bullough Park 5-1 to remain in fourth place.
