I’M going to boycott Match of the Day from now on because it’s becoming a bit too painful to watch.

I don’t think the result on Saturday will have surprised anyone because we were never expected to go to the Emirates and get anything.

But the editors at the Beeb didn’t even give us anything to cling on to and I think we may have set a record for the least amount of chances – zero – shown on MOTD.

We had chances against Arsenal… just not that many.

For 70 minutes we frustrated the Gunners and their galaxy of Champions League players.

It was a performance the 3,000 travelling fans could be proud of.

But whereas being the hardest working side in the league was a major advantage for us this season, it’s a minimum requirement in the Premier League and isn’t having anywhere near the same impact as it did in the Championship.

The gulf in class is massive and we’re really beginning to find out the hard way just how massive.

Sean Dyche tinkered a little with his starting line-up and while it was a surprise to see Marvin Sordell thrown into the eleven, his work up top and pace were a pleasant surprise.

The return of Dean Marney was also a major plus and if him and David Jones can pick up where they left off then we might start ticking again in the middle of the park.

The MOTD highlights reel didn’t lie however and we were subjected to wave after wave of attack from Arsenal and but for a couple of fine saves from Tom Heaton – the pick a one handed block from a vicious Lukas Podolski – and the woodwork it could have been even worse than 3-0.

The ref also managed to miss a stonewall penalty in the first half when George Boyd palmed away a corner. I thought at that stage our luck may have changed. Alas not!

Dyche was as honest as ever after the game and he’ll know that relegation isn’t confirmed or avoided away at Arsenal.

But when you are up against the likes of Alexis Sanchez you can’t afford to gift wrap two goals for him which, if we’re continuing down the honesty path, we did.

The first was a header after he strolled between Kieron Trippier and Michael Duff, the second a neat bit of footwork to create a chance from six yards.

Callum Chambers notched his first senior goal between the two Sanchez strikes to cap a disappointing afternoon in the capital.

We got our first – and last – away win in the Premier League against Hull City way back when.

I just hope their visit to the Turf gives us our first win of any kind in the top flight this season!
