ACCRINGTON Stanley maintained their long unbeaten record over Lancashire rivals Morecambe as they claimed victory at the Store First Stadium tonight.
Stanley have not lost in 16 league meetings with Morecambe since 2005 and went ahead in the fifth minute when Luke Joyce scored from the penalty spot after on-loan Blackburn Rovers midfielder John O’Sullivan had been fouled.
Former Burnley striker Shay McCartan then made it 2-0 with a long range strike in the 11th minute.
But Stanley lost keeper Jesse Joronen to injury shortly after half time and Morecambe pulled a goal back in the 51st minute through Paul Mullin – no relation to the former Stanley striker of the same name.
