Accrington and Rossendale College’s Girls’ Football Academy are Europe-bound for a week of state of the art training.
After last season’s astounding success, the England Colleges finalists will be preparing for their up-coming season with a weeklong training spell at Brown’s Training Camp in Vilamoura, Portugal later this year.
The training facility, which has played host to professional sports teams from the Premier League to Rugby Union, offers 3G AstroTurf and Elite Grass pitches, as well as indoor and outdoor pools, Jacuzzi and a Performance Analysis Suite for our girls to put to use.
At Brown’s, the AccRoss Girls will be fed an ‘Athletes Diet’, which prepares them properly to compete and train at high intensities and provides the nutrition and recovery required.
Tim Breaker, Football Coach and Sport Lecturer at the College has high hopes for the trip.
He said, “Last year’s pre-season proved to be instrumental in our success later in the season and hope this year’s trip will provide a warm(ish) climate and a facility that allows us to prepare and train like professional athletes for a full week. This will give us the platform to push on for the remainder of the league and cup campaign upon our return.”
