A NEW cricket academy will be opened by an award-winning coach next month.
The academy, for four to 16-year-olds will be launched by Qasim Ali on Thursday, November 6.
The academy, run by Inter Madrassah Organisation Sports Academy will commennce in January.
Ali will be going into school to work with BCHS and primary school students.
He will also be the guest speaker at the BCHS awards evening at King George’s Hall the same night.
Ali is a UKCC Level 3 Cricket Coach, and has a strong coaching background, most recently working as Lead Coach at Lancashire CCC’s Indoor Centre, as well as being an ex-Burnley, Lowerhouse, Colne, and Padiham battling star.
This year the England and Wales Cricket Board appointed Qasim Ali as the new Head Coach of the England Physical Disability (PD) team, after eight months as Assistant Coach.
Qasim has been instrumental in leading LCCC’s Asian Talent Search as part of The Lancashire Way programme.
Qasim was also named Coach of the Year at the Asian Cricket Awards 2014 held at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Asian Cricket Awards help celebrate the tremendous contribution to cricket by British Asians and recognises the achievements that many young British Asians have strived towards throughout their sporting careers, whether they are starting out at grassroots level, or matured to professional level.
