LUKAS Jutkiewicz faces Everton on Sunday for the first time since his Goodison Park exit – but the Burnley striker is more focused on breaking his Premier League duck than the opponents.

Jutkiewicz spent three years as an Everton player between 2007 and 2010 after being snapped up by David Moyes as a 17-year-old.

The forward made only one substitute appearance for the Toffees – unable to force himself into regular contention because of competition from the likes of Yakubu, Victor Anichebe, James Vaughan, Andy Johnson, Jo and Louis Saha.

But Jutkiewicz is back in the Premier League this season with Burnley and faces his old club at Turf Moor on Sunday.

Despite encouraging performances the 25-year-old has faced an agonising wait to score his first goal in the top flight, suffering frustration last weekend when he had a strike ruled out for offside in the home loss to West Ham United.

Asked what it would mean to score against Everton, Jutkiewicz replied: “Not against Everton particularly.

“It would mean everything for me, no matter who we’re playing against.

“Obviously it’s been frustrating but I’ll keep trying to get in there.

“I’ve just got to keep trying to get in the right positions and hopefully the luck changes.

“It will be great to be able to get back out on the home pitch again and hopefully the fans can get behind us again.

“They were superb on Saturday all the way through, so hopefully we can put on a better performance for them.”

Even though they sit above QPR in the Premier League table, the Clarets are now the only side in all four divisions not to have won a league match this season.

“Understandably it’s something that people are going to talk about,” Jutkiewicz said.

“It’s up to us to try to get that first win.

“The important thing is to rejuvenate and go again. We need to learn where we can get better and try to put that into the next performance.

“The Premier League is a massive test but it’s where you want to be and you want to test yourselves against the very best.

“It’s possibly the best league in the world. It’s enjoyable to be involved in it and we want to try to improve and have an impact on the season.”

Jutkiewicz is likely to partner Danny Ings up front against Everton, after Ings returning from injury against West Ham.

“He’s a top drawer player and a pleasure to play alongside,” Jutkiewicz said.

“We’re trying to improve every day in training and work on things.

“Hopefully we can start scoring.”
