BEN Mee believes Burnley have come through their period of Premier League adjustment, and will get better.

The Clarets have yet to taste victory after eight games this season, picking up four points from a possible 32 courtesy of draws with Manchester United, Crystal Palace, Sunderland and Leicester City.

Burnley hoped victory would come at home to West Ham United on Saturday. But after having good spells in a goalless first, they conceded two goals in quick succession to put them on the back foot.

George Boyd’s first for the club got them back into it before Carlton Cole’s header sealed their fate and a 3-1 win for the Hammers.

But, ahead of Sunday’s visit of Everton – Burnley’s first back-to-back home league games this season – Mee feels their early season experiences are enabling them to learn valuable lessons for the remainder of the campaign.

The defender expects them to get stronger as they go along, and believes the first win will provide the springboard to better results.

“I think we’re as prepared as we’re ever going to be,” said the left back.

“We’re getting more experienced as the season goes on. We just need to start winning some games.

“Getting that first win is important, and then cracking on from there. We’ll get there, I’m sure.”

The Manchester City graduate feels there were positive signs against the Hammers.

“We felt we could get back in it then and the fans lifted and we lifted,” he said.

“Perhaps we pushed it a little bit too much too early and we conceded from another corner, set piece, which we were disappointed with.

“It was a hard one to take. We had a good performance in the first half but it was the absolute opposite in the second half. We didn’t really come out at all for the first 20 minutes or so and they punished us.

“They changed their shape a little bit and we conceded a couple of goals early doors and unfortunately we couldn’t quite get back into it. The third goal just killed it off. It was disappointing.

“But we don’t usually drop our heads that much when we concede. We come back stronger and we’ve got good character in the side.”

Mee insists that is a quality which will stand them in good stead throughout the campaign.

“We’re showing character and that’s something we’ve got in abundance,” he said.

“But we need to start winning games. We’ve had some really good performances and on another day (against West Ham) we could have scored three in the first half against West Ham and comfortably win the game.

“But we’ll move on now and look to the next game.”
