AARON Harrison was a knockout success at an East Lancashire bowling club’s annual tournament.
Harrison proved to be just too good for his rivals as he took the honours in the in the final of Briercliffe Memorial Bowling Club’s annual knockout members-only tournament.
The new champion was the star performer on a day of top class bowls culminating with the final where Harrison beat Daniel Parkinson.
There was plenty of entertaining bowls on show – and a lot of close matches – all the way to final.
In the first semi final, Parkinson held off a brave fightback to beat Jack Burrows 21-18. Parkinson had lead 10-1 at one stage but managed to hold his nerve to deny Burrows a famous win.
In the other semi-final, what should have been a close encounter between Philip Johnson and Aaron Harrison turned out to be something on an anti climax as Harrison ran out an easy winner.
The final, played to ’25 up’, started off as a tight affair but, as it went on, Harrison started to open a little gap which proved to be too much for Parkinson to close.
Both bowlers played some very good bowls, but it was Harrison who had all the answers to be crowned Briercliffe Memorial Bowling Club's Club Singles Champion for 2014.
