IT was fantastic to see a Burnley player help the Republic of Ireland to get a draw against the world champions in midweek, but it’s probably not guaranteed that Stephen Ward will definitely play for Burnley tomorrow.
It was a great result for Ireland and all the home nations did well during the international break too.
But it will be very interesting to see what team Sean Dyche picks at home to West ham United tomorrow, with players now starting to come back from injury.
Ward and Scott Arfield played in central midfield in Burnley’s last game at Leicester City but with David Jones available again and Dean Marney not ruled out yet either, some decisions might have to be made.
If Ward is the unlucky one to miss out, well that’s football. I’m sure he would be accepting of that if it was the case.
It sounds like Danny Ings will be back and that is great news.
After a few weeks out injured, Danny will be very enthusiastic to get back out there.
He hasn’t scored yet this season but it takes everybody time to adjust to the Premier League.
Danny is playing against better defenders than last year, but he is good enough to play at this level.
The goals will come for Danny but we do need this first win as soon as we can.
Tomorrow is a massive game for us, it’s so important to get that first win.
West Ham have had their ups and downs but Sam Allardyce has done a good job and they seem to have picked up in the last few weeks, so it won’t be an easy game.
