MICHAEL Kightly says Burnley are determined to finally secure their first win of the season from back-to-back home games against West Ham and Everton.

The Clarets moved off the bottom of the Premier League with a 2-2 draw at Leicester City in their last match but they are still searching for their first victory, eight games into the new campaign.

Their next two matches are both at Turf Moor, however, with West Ham the visitors on Saturday and Everton in town eight days later.

Both sides lost at Turf Moor during Burnley’s previous Premier League campaign in 2008/09 and Kightly is targeting at least one victory from the two games.

“We’re disappointed not to have won a game but we’ve got two home games after this international break and hopefully we can get a win,” said the winger, who was on target in the draw at Leicester.

“We just haven’t had the rub of the green and we haven't got that win that we've deserved.

“If we can keep building and believing as a team we will get there.

"It's a tough division and we know that. We know it will come.”

Some sides might have seen their confidence severely dented by the recent 4-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion, particularly as it was their sixth consecutive game without finding the net.

But they hit back at Leicester, ending their 655-minute goal drought, and Kightly knows that retaining their belief will be vital in their battle to stay in the Premier League this season.

“We've got to keep going and keep believing,” he said.

“That's the most important thing when you haven't won a game and you haven't been scoring goals.

“We've got to make sure that we don't lose the belief.

"The gaffer's brilliant and he just wants us to play with freedom, but when you haven't won and you haven't scored so many goals it's difficult sometimes.

“We haven't got a win yet, but if we keep playing like we have been then I'm sure we will.”
