GOALKEEPER Jake Kean has returned to Blackburn Rovers after Yeovil Town opted against extending his one-month loan spell.
Yeovil boss Gary Johnson stated before his side’s League One clash at Port Vale on Saturday that he wanted to keep the 23-year-old for another four weeks.
But, following the Glovers’ 4-1 defeat at Vale Park, Johnson has decided to give the two permanent keepers on his books, who had fallen behind Kean in the pecking order, another chance to stake their claim to be his number one.
“Jake Kean has gone back to Blackburn now,” Johnson told the Western Gazette.
“We took him for that month as that's what we said we'd do and we'd look at it and then see whether he was head and shoulders above the keepers that we had.
“CV-wise he's had good Championship games. He's had an injury but they wanted him to get games and you couldn't turn that down.
“Over the course of the month he's done okay but we didn't feel that it was worth it, with the two goalkeepers that we've got, to continue it when the other two keepers are waiting for their opportunities.”
Kean made five appearances for Yeovil, keeping one clean sheet.
He has played only once for Rovers – August’s Capital One Cup loss at home to Scunthorpe United – since losing his status as the club’s number one in December.
