BLACKBURN Rovers would be willing to extend Jake Kean’s stint at Yeovil Town if that is what the goalkeeper wants.
Kean today plays the final game of his one-month loan with the Glovers when they travel to Port Vale.
Yeovil boss Gary Johnson has already made it clear that he would like to keep hold of the 23-year-old for another four weeks.
And Gary Bowyer is likely to accept his counterpart’s request if Kean, who has played four times for the League One outfit, decides to stay in Somerset.
Rovers boss Bowyer said: “Jake’s certainly benefited from playing games.
“It’s something we wanted for him and he’s certainly enjoyed it as it can be tough working all week and not getting a game at the weekend. We’re delighted that he’s gone there and has shown the right attitude and application.
“We mustn’t forget he’s still young from a goalkeeper’s perspective.”
Kean has played only once for Rovers – August’s Capital One Cup loss at home to Scunthorpe United – since losing his status as the club’s number one in December.
He said: “I will just play the game on Saturday and me and the manager will sit down and discuss what we have got to discuss and see what happens.
“I know what I have got to do on Saturday, I know what my job is and I know why I’m here.
“Future or no future, I’m here to do a job for the team on Saturday to help get three points. If it’s my last game or not, so be it.” K
ean, who has made 44 first-team appearances for Rovers, was set to join the Glovers on loan on transfer deadline day.
The deal fell through only for Johnson to resurrect it two weeks later.
Kean said: “I wrapped my head around that I was coming down, then it all fell through so I was concentrating at Blackburn.
“The opportunity arose again and I thought ‘why not, get on with it, go and play some games’.
“At a parent club you’re settled and don’t have to make first impressions again.
“The lads know who you are and you’re settled with your family.
“It’s a bit different having to travel and settle again, fit in and make it work with your family with them being bang on 200 miles from your front door to here.
“I feel like I have settled in really well, the lads have been brilliant.”
Johnson added: “I think the lad seems comfortable enough and as long as Blackburn are comfortable hopefully we can keep him for another month.”
