Tom Heaton - 7
Could do little about the goals and made a fine save to deny Dorrans’ swerving effort before half time.
Kieran Trippier - 6
Could not get forward as much as he liked and unable to do quite enough to clear Dawson’s header off the line.
Michael Duff - 6
Made some important contributions early on defensively, but eventually West Brom’s pressure told.
Jason Shackell - 6
Like Duff, impressive in the opening stages but outpaced by Berahino for the third goal.
Ben Mee - 6
Made a good block to deny Sessegnon’s close range shot early in the second half, but Burnley were 2-0 down by then.
Ross Wallace - 5
Handed first league start of the season on the right flank, but could make little impact and subbed at half time.
Steven Reid - 5
Introduced in a midfield holding role but like Wallace was withdrawn at half time after struggling to stem the tide.
Scott Arfield - 5
So impressive on flank over past year, could not get into game after filling in for Jones and Marney in central midfield.
George Boyd - 6
Most likely to create but found it tough, moved to central position in the first half before returning to the wing.
Michael Kightly - 5
Another to make his first league start of the season and another who did not do enough going forward.
Lukas Jutkiewicz - 6
You could only feel sorry for Jutkiewicz. Played lone striker’s role and ran his heart out, but he was left so isolated.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Tom Heaton
There were few man of the match candidates in the Burnley team but Heaton did make a fantastic save from Dorrans in the first half
