STEVEN Burke and Sir Bradley Wiggins had to settle for silver in the Commonwealth Games after they were beaten by Australia in the final.
Colne’s Burke and Chorley’s Wiggins were joined by Ed Clancy and Andy Tennant for the gold medal ride but were outclassed by the current world champions.
The Aussies set a Commonwealth Games record of 3.54.851 to take gold with England a little over five seconds behind.
Both teams finished with three men but Australia, having set off strongly, maintained their advantage all the way to the line.
New Zealand took the bronze ahead of Canada in fourth.
