THE second teams of Read and Settle face a potential replay of their Lawrenson Cup quarter-final after an objection from the Dalesmen over the inclusion of Elliott Artingstoll.
Regular first teamer Artingstoll scored 55 as Read completed a four-wicket win at Whalley Road on June 29.
Artingstoll was making his return to action after serving an eight-match ban for dissent in Read’s first team and as he had not featured for more than six weeks the Whalley Road side believed there was nothing to prevent him from playing.
But at a league meeting this week clubs voted that the tie should be replayed.
However, that decision is now on hold until another league meeting meaning the winners of Sunday’s semi-final between Stacksteads and Earby will have to wait to see who they will face in the final with Ribblesdale Wanderers also on hold as they are due to face the winners of Read v Settle.
Artingstoll remains in Read’s second team for this weekend but the first team are boosted by the return after injury of professional Brandon Scullard.
Scullard has missed the last two games but is back as Kyle O’Connor’s men welcome Brooksbottom to Whalley Road.
They need to win that having dropped off the pace.
That pace is being set by reigning champions Clitheroe who enjoyed the perfect double header with two wins while the sides leading the chase Great Harwood and Whalley both stalled over the course of last weekend.
Those results have put Clitheroe 17 points clear and they are determined not to let that slip.
They welcome an Oswaldtwistle Immanuel side missing veteran Gerard Metcalf.
Great Harwood aim to bounce back from their shock loss at Brooksbottom with a trip to Ribblesdale Wanderers, while Whalley host a Cherry Tree who bring back Marc Burrows for the game at Station Road.
Earby are at Brinscall and Barnoldswick host Settle in need of a boost as they bid to avoid the drop into Section B of the Senior League.
Baxenden travel to Gincroft Lane for their game at Earby, while Salesbury are at home to Euxton.
