IAN Shaw played a stormer when Mytton Fold Golf Club held their Frank Hargreaves Memorial Trophy in glorious conditions on Sunday.
His 41 points was the highest of the day, but his moment of success was somewhat outshone when Linda Clegg scored the lowest of the day when she holed out in one at the first.
Clegg teed off at the first in the Frank Hargreaves Memorial Trophy – and was left celebrating when she saw her ball disappear straight in the hole for the first ace of her career However, she could not beat Shaw who was a worthy winner.
Captain Peter Main came second, just one shot behind the leader, and took the Seniors Trophy. Third was John Whittaker with 39 points, just pipping Steve Cunliffe and Mick Mahon on a card playoff.
Some things are as regular as clockwork. Take Frank Hindle who scored the only two of the day on his favoured ninth hole.
In the ladies section it was awin for Hazel Sellars. Her 39 points put her three clear of Allison Nuttall in second while Abbie Clegg finished third with 32 points.
