TODMORDEN batsman Kristian Garland recovered from a nasty blow to the head to take his place in the Centre Vale side’s team for Sunday’s Foster’s Lancashire League defeat at Burnley after he was forced into a trip to hospital 24 hours earlier.
Garland, who made79 in Todmorden’s Worsley Cup defeat to Burnley on Saturday, went head first into the boundary edge during that quarter-final and was clearly dazed as he was attended to at the side of the pitch.
He was taken to hospital but returned to Centre Vale later in the evening and was declared fit for Sunday’s trip to Myprotein Turf Moor – although he may have wished he hadn’t turned out as he made just five with Todmorden skittled out for just 68 as Burnley completed a weekend double and claimed their first league win of the season.
