WHAT a tremendous season we have had – the best I can remember in all my years involved with Burnley Football Club.

And it isn’t over yet.

Having already set a new points record, Sean Dyche will be committed to extending that to 95 tomorrow and make that even harder to beat.

In another season they would have been champions, and we have been close to it.

But there is no disappointment whatsoever in missing out.

The next challenge will be to stay in the Premier League, and that would be a bigger achievement than getting there.

Whether it proves to be as enjoyable as this season remains to be seen.

But in the meantime we should keep revelling in the occasion.

I was pleasantly surprised that Sam Vokes earned the overall player of the year at the supporters’ clubs' awards night.

Personally I would have picked Danny Ings - not just for his goals but his overall play. His movement is a big asset.

He’s one of those strikers who is always on his toes and those five to 10-yard runs are something that Danny does well. He deserves all the accolades he gets.

As does Sam he came on strong in the second half of the season and I look forward to seeing him back in action in the Premier League whenever he is ready to return from that horror injury.

The manager deserves all the credit he gets too. Five manager of the year nominations must be unprecedented, but he deserves it for the job he is done.

He is manager of the year for me, hands down.
