DARWEN go gunning for a third straight Chorley Building Society win of the season as they bid to maintain their perfect start to the new campaign on a busy weekend.
The Towers have impressed with wins over Lancaster and St Annes in the league plus the ECB National Knockout victory over Egerton last Sunday.
But skipper Jordan Clarke refuses to get carried away with the start, especially with a tough double facing his confident men over the Bank Holiday.
Darwen travel to Morecambe tomorrow before Monday’s Birch Hall showdown with big hitters Barrow and Clarke said: “This weekend is a real indication as to how far we have come and where we need to be going.
“Yes, it’s been a good start with the league and cup wins but this is a step up.
“Morecambe haven’t won yet but they are always a good side and Barrow are there and there abouts every year.
“So after a good start it’s a big test.”
New professional George Linde has started life at Birch Hall well with eight wickets in his two league games, while opening batsman Ammer Mirza has found early season runs.
And another big plus is the return to the club of quick bowler Kamran Anwar after his year as Cherry Tree pro.
“Kammy has come back a better, more mature player,” added Clarke.
“And he has that bit of experience now and brings so much to the team.”
Chorley also have a big weekend as they look to recover from their league defeat at Barrow last Saturday.
They face Blackpool at Windsor Park tomorrow with the visitors likely to include Lancashire man Steven Croft in their side.
But that will hold no fears for Andy Holdsworth’s men, who look good with Kieran McCullagh in form with the ball and new professional Mohammed Jamal finding his feet after moving from Read.
