FORMER Rossendale United and Clitheroe goalkeeper Carlo Nash is the number one favourite to be named Norwich City’s player of the season – despite never playing for the club.
Canaries fans have been voting in their droves for the 40-year-old in protest of their team’s dismal Premier League campaign.
The trophy is awarded to the player who receives the most votes from supporters with nominations accepted by email and post as well as Facebook and Twitter.
Nash, who started his senior career at Rossendale before moving to Clitheroe and helping the Blues to the 1996 FA Vase final, has not made an appearance for Norwich since moving from Stoke City last summer.
He has already said he would turn down the trophy if he was to win.
The 40-year-old said: “I would have to graciously decline it and of course give it to someone who has earned it.”
