Bacup and Rossendale Boro 0 Stockport Sports 1
BACUP and Rossendale Borough’s survival hopes were dealt a fresh blow as Stockport Sports grabbed the points with a smash and grab show.
Paul Wadsworth struck for the visitors with five minutes left, just when it seemed both sides were set for a share of the spoils.
Manager Brent Peters named the same 11 who had brushed aside Squires Gate 3-0 in midweek, but the home side could not produce the win they needed.
Both sides spurned chances in a keenly contested first half, with Nathan McDonald and Daniel Cocks testing the visitors' goalkeeper a couple of times before half-time.
Stockport enjoyed a decent second half spell, their best period of the match, with the home defence forced to defend in depth.
Bacup hit back, McDonald going close again, but it was Stockport who nicked the points as Wadsworth struck late on to leave Peters searching for fresh answers.
