Padiham 1 Cammell Laird 3
PADIHAM slipped to another home defeat but edged closer to survival as most the teams beneath them in Evo-Stik First Division One North lost.
But this was a game that hinged on two penalties decision – one not given for the Storks and hotly disputed one awarded against them.
The match was finely poised at 1-1 when a Cammell Laird defender went unpunished for a crude head high challenge.
And with the visitors leading 2-1, the Birkenhead side were awarded a controversial penalty for handball, converted by Joe Evans which killed off the contest.
Evans opened the scoring with a well place shot over Sean Davis in the Padiham goal after 17 minutes. A Chay Dysart own goal on 32 levelled matters but the vistors regained the lead through Jo Gibiliru.
