New Mills 2 Padiham 3
Padiham ended a run of three straight defeats to pick up a vital victory that moves them away from the drop zone.
However, it took a last-gasp header from Accrington Stanley loanee Luke Greaves to snatch the win.
Steve Wilkes’s side now have breathing space, moving seven points clear of the bottom three as they climbed up to 17th place.
The Storkes got the ideal start when Kieron Pickup fired them ahead in the 24th minute.
It was a lead they held until the break but four minutes after the restart, New Mills were level through Michael Fish.
And after Martin Parkes was denied by the woodwork, New Mills took the lead through Daniel Hewitt.
But Danny Boyle put Padiham back on level terms in the 78th minute before 18-year-old Greaves rose to head home a Pickup corner.
