Well it was always going to happen at some point.

And, you know what, when it did I didn’t feel as bad as I thought it would.

We were outplayed by the league leaders Leicester City and there is no shame in that, especially with three of our most important players missing before kick-off and another joining them on the sidelines just a few minute in.

Losing Sam Vokes so early meant any game plan we had against Nigel Pearson’s side went out of the window early doors and, to be honest, from there on in we were on the back foot. David Nugent (who else?) got his customary goal against us before Chris Wood unleashed another worldie to condemn us to our first home defeat in over a year.

There was a lot of negativity on certain online forums after the game but really it was just a bad day at the office.

Too many players were under par but let’s have a bit of perspective – it was only our fourth defeat all season and when you look at the size of the squad we have, we have been asking this group of players to go out and perform miracles week in, week out.

Any defeat is disappointing but the Foxes are the stand out side I have seen this season.

We were given a bit of a boost by Blackpool who held QPR to a 1-1 draw at Loftus Road and that gives us a real chance to finish what we started and claim that all-important second spot.

We have earned our place at the top table and one defeat certainly won’t convince me otherwise.

The lack of activity in the loan market might now come back to bite us squarely on the bum but what fans need to realise is that it isn’t quite as easy as going out and getting any player you want.

I am sure Sean was trying to bring in reinforcements and he’ll be as disappointed as anyone.

But, as we have come to discover, he’ll get on with the job with no bellyaching and maybe we should take a leaf out of his book.

A trip to Watford is no easy task but if we can get one or two of the lads back then you never know.

We keep battling against the odds and next week will be no different.

We all need to hold our nerve because good times lie ahead.
