Padiham 1 Burscough 2
BURSCOUGH avenged a 4-3 home defeat to Padiham with a 2-1 victory at a storm-battered Arbories.
Wind, heavy rain and hail soon turned the pitch in to sea of mud that had players struggling to stand up let along pass the ball.
Both sides created chances – Danny Boyle going close for the Storks – before the home side fell behind as Connor Roberts’ mishit effort somehow found its way in to net.
Kieron Pickup levelled matters five minutes after the restart, beating keeper Tim Horn with an angled shot before Martin Parkes hit the post two minutes later.
But Padiham fell behind in the 63rd minute when keeper Marcus Burgess failed to deal with a cross in to the area and Jordan Williams scored from closr range In the closing stages, Burscough’s Anthony Brown and Eddie Toney and Padiham’s Michael Morrison were all sent off following a crude challlenge on Dominic Craig.
* Ramsbottom United’s home clash with Farlsey was called off just 30 minutes before kick off.
