THE annual Ribble Valley Gymnastics competition had its biggest entry in many years with 15 schools and many individuals entered.
Primary schools in England have recently been provided with “Sports Premium” funding – an allocation of money to be used especially on PE and school sport and it was obvious to see the schools that had been using the money for specialist gymnastics training as the standard was particularly high this year.
The event was organised by the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley School Sports Partnership and hosted by St Augustine’s High School.
Overall Results: 1. St Michael and St John, 2 St Josephs Hurst Green, 3=St Marys Langho and Brennands Endowed Individual Results: Katie, Aeron and Zara from St Michael and St Josephs were joint first in the floor.
Ewan from Simonstone won the vault. Sophia from Sabden got the overall combined highest scores.
Jane Johnson from the school Sports Partnership said “It’s fantastic to see so many schools take part in this event and to see so many children showcasing the hard work they have put in at school.”
