I THINK Burnley will look back on Tuesday night’s win over Bolton Wanderers as one of their biggest results of the season.

It was a big test for us at the Reebok, but it is becoming increasingly obvious that this team are ready for any challenge that comes their way.

You’ve got to win these games.

I know it’s difficult away from home but the Clarets have got it all to do it again tomorrow, against a familiar face. Eddie Howe will be looking for his side to turn Burnley over, but I think our lads will be up for it.

We are a different proposition to when Eddie was here.

The two strikers have obviously made a big difference with the partnership they’ve formed, but there is a greater resilience about the team, and a stronger mentality.

That often comes with the confidence of winning games, but they are a really solid unit, and it’s good to see.

The back four have been strong all season, and there wasn’t much to choose between Michael Duff and Jason Shackell in terms of performance in midweek.

The front two have been the most talked about partnership, but you can’t underestimate the job this centre half pairing has had on the Clarets’ success so far this season.

The same could be said for the two central midfield men – Dean Marney and David Jones. Their work rate is terrific.

They call it the engine room and they are certainly putting plenty of effort and power in there to contribute to a strong spine of the team.

But as well as those attributes there is a lot to be said for the side’s mental toughness.

Last Saturday at home to Millwall we went behind, but we didn’t let that trouble us.

It was the same against QPR – not once, but twice.

Against the Lions we kept plugging away until we got the equaliser, and then we kicked on again to get what proved to be a comfortable win.

We are staying in games until we get the breaks.

We didn’t panic under spells of pressure that Bolton put us under in the first half, but then we came out stronger, and once we scored there looked to be only one winner. If we can get a goal and then shut the door, well, that’s promotion stuff.

There are some big games coming up – especially at home – and I hope we can keep this impressive run at Turf Moor going.
