RAMSBOTTOM’S new professional Daryn Smit will arrive at Acre Bottom for the start of the Foster’s Lancashire League season as a champion of South Africa after his Dolphins claimed the Ram Slam T20 challenge thanks to a two-run win over Cape Cobras.
A packed Newlands was trated to a treat as Smit’s side, which also including former Rishton pro Cameron Delport, posted 146-8 from their 20 overs.
Jaques Kallis’ Cobras managed to pick themselves up from the brink of defeat to need six runs off the final ball – but Justin Kemp’s attempted maximum fell a foot short of the ropes to see Dolphins as champions.
Smit is the Dolphins First Class captain.
