SEAN Dyche believes Burnley will start to win regularly again if they can maintain recent performances – as they bid to avoid a third home game without victory.

The Clarets host Millwall today eager to secure three points to keep themselves firmly contention for an automatic promotion spot, with second-placed QPR travelling to fourth-placed Derby on Monday.

Burnley have drawn their last three matches, two of which have come at home against Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton.

But they took great confidence from their display in last weekend’s 3-3 draw at QPR and Dyche believes they are very close to going on the sort of winning run that they enjoyed in the first half of the season.

“I think we’ve been very unfortunate to come out of our last three games with only a point a game because the performances have been beyond that,” said the Burnley boss.

“But as I’ve suggested all season, I believe in performance levels because if you get that right and you show consistency over time you’ll win plenty of matches.

“We’ve done that this season and we’ll look to do it again.

“Quality of performances and consistency is what I look for, the staff look for and the players look for.

“They know they’ve performed well but they also want to win games, and we’ve got to add even more to our game to make sure we win matches.”

Burnley have not lost a league game at Turf Moor for 11 months, since Hull visited last March.

The Clarets equalled a post-war record of 18 home league games unbeaten against Brighton and will surpass that if they avoid defeat this afternoon.

Burnley and Chelsea are the only two sides in the top four divisions to remain unbeaten on home soil this season, but Dyche says the Clarets cannot afford to think about taking that record all the way to the end of the campaign just yet.

“Absolutely not, I hope to get it to the end of Saturday, that’s what I aim for,” he said.

“It’s not hard to put a finger on why we’ve done well at home, it’s because the performance level has been excellent and that makes it a very tough place for the opposition to come and get something.

“But we don’t bother with the record too much, I certainly don’t.

“Our focus is just on concentrating to win.”
