THERE are a quite a few players in the current Burnley team who have experienced promotion before and that can help tenfold as we move into the final stages of the season.

I experienced three promotions during my career and certainly when I was going for the second one or the third one, the experience really helped me.

The lads who have been through it and been successful can help the other lads.

It is a fantastic feeling to win promotion. To be able to celebrate with your team-mates, with the supporters, with the directors, there is no better feeling in football.

Once you have tasted that feeling you really want it again, so I am sure that will be in the minds of those players who have been promoted before.

As you go into the final months of the season it becomes even more about self-belief than it was before.

You have to go into games believing you are going to win.

Leicester have that. They have really kicked on and it looks like they’re going to win the league now. But I have no doubt that the Burnley players have the self-belief required too.

It is instilled by the manager and the coaching staff, and you could see it in the performance at QPR.

I think we showed at Loftus Road that we are the real deal, that we are a team that can stay up there with the big clubs and challenge.

If we can play like that between now and the end of the season I certainly think we can stay up there.

In the end we were slightly disappointed not to get all thee points at QPR, although we would definitely have taken a point before the start of the game.

We would have liked to have maybe had four more points more from our last two home games, which both ended in draws, but we’re still in a good position.

It’s good to see Ross Wallace back, too. The competition in the wide positions now is something the manager will want.

They have Ross, Scott Arfield, Michael Kightly, Keith Treacy and Junior Stanislas and it is really difficult now to say which two players should play.

It’s just up to whoever has the shirt to keep it by playing well.

I’m also pleased to hear that Brendan Flood will be coming back on to the board.

I know Brendan a little bit and he is someone who really cares about Burnley.

I was sad to see him leave the board in the first place and I know he only left for personal reasons.

I’m glad to see he’s coming back and I’m sure his wife and family will be too.
