CLARETS striker Sam Vokes insists he is not swayed by goal records, as long as he can help fire Burnley to promotion.
The Wales international has already achieved a career personal best return with 13 goals in 36 league and cup games.
Together with top scorer Danny Ings the pair have revived the dying art of strike partnerships and with 34 goals between them already they are on course to become the club's most potent double act.
Andy Lochhead and Willie Irvine lead the way in the history books with 60 in the 1965/66 season.
Irvine’s individual return of 37 has yet to be bettered.
But Vokes says breaking records is a target second behind the Clarets’ Premier League dream.
“It doesn’t bother us. We go out every game as strikers to score goals,” said the 24-year-old former Bournemouth and Wolves front man.
“That’s our job, so if we break records, all well and good.
“It’s always nice to get those milestones but to chip away with points is key.”
While the two have worked well in tandem, the strikers have also been ably assisted from the wide areas, notably right back Kieran Trippier.
But manager Sean Dyche is anticipating greater contributions from the wingers, with competition in that area hotting up with Ross Wallace on the brink of a return to full fitness.
“I think everyone’s played their part so far,” he said.
“Scott Arfield’s come into the side and had a real good run of form and kept his shirt pretty safe more or less over the weeks.
“Kights (Michael Kightly) has done well and looked sharp and then just had a little soft spot, Junior (Stanislas) the same, and then Keith (Treacy) has come in for a run of games.
“We want that demand all over the pitch and we have got that demand in those areas, especially with Ross (Wallace) coming back as well.
“We’re hopeful that it keeps igniting those areas to keep performing.”
Meanwhile, Burnley have been linked with Oldham defender James Tarkowski.
The highly-rated 21-year-old has been watched by the Clarets, along with a number of other Championship and Premier League clubs, however he is expected to exceed the club’s budget.
Premier League side Liverpool were last month reported to be weighing up a £2million-plus player offer for the youngster.
