England coach Andy Flower says he “can’t be any clearer” about his desire to continue in the job despite his side’s 5-0 Ashes defeat in Australia.
Oh great, crack open the fizzy pop and celebrate that news. The game has slumped to its lowest ebb for years thanks to the shambles Down Under yet the man who was in charge wants to stay on – and the ECB are backing him.
Surely Flower should fall on his sword and he is not the only one.
The selectors carry as much blame as the coach and players and it’s time for change at the top.
