WE will do well to hang on to Danny Ings and Kieran Trippier this month, but I would be wanting about £10m to let either of them go right now.
It was really hard to choose between them for the man of the match against Huddersfield on New Year’s Day.
I thought we were the better side and Huddersfield’s two goals were very scrappy. We should have done better with them.
Danny Ings produced two more expert finishes, they were tremendous goals.
He had a chance to get his hat-trick too, but he put it over the top of the bar.
I’m sure he will be very keen to get his first career hat-trick soon, and it will come.
Every striker wants to score a hat-trick if they can. I got one or two in my career!
Kieran Trippier got a goal too and also had an outstanding game.
It will be a big test for us if a bid comes in for either of them during the transfer window.
I don’t know how the finances are so we’ll have to see, but I’d imagine if they got a bid they would have to look at it.
It’s hard to say exactly how much they’re worth but I would be wanting about £10m.
I wouldn’t take less than that, because they could earn the club even more by getting Burnley into the Premier League this season.
I’m glad to see that a bid has gone in for the Brighton striker Ashley Barnes.
Burnley do need a striker badly, that has to be the priority because if either Danny Ings or Sam Vokes is out injured we could have a problem.
Barnes was one we have bid for before so it looks like he’s a player Sean Dyche likes and has been keeping an eye on.
We will have to see what Burnley do now, whether they put another bid in, but it could be a big decision for the player too.
It’s whether he wants to come all this way north with his family, and he might have to fight for a place here as well.
But I’m sure he would be given an opportunity to get the number nine shirt, the manager would be buying someone like that to give him a chance to play.
It’s Southampton away in the FA Cup third round tomorrow and I think I would rest one or two players for this game, and give some of the kids a go.
I think that might well happen too, I think Sean Dyche might make some changes.
You don’t like saying it but the FA Cup isn’t the priority this season, the main focus has to be trying to get promotion.
If that means sacrificing the cup then so be it.
I think Southampton might play quite a strong side because they will probably see the FA Cup as a competition that they can do well in. They’re not in relegation trouble so they can have a go in the cup.
If Jay Rodriguez plays for Southampton, I am sure he will get a great reception from the travelling Burnley supporters.
He is doing well there and he scored a couple of goals last weekend. It’s great to see him progressing and good luck to him.
I hope he keeps on doing well for them, although not tomorrow!
