THE football transfer window opens once again on January 1 - and kicks off a month of frenzied activity and wild cash spent on players who may or may not turn out to be worth the money.

Over the years some clubs have struck lucky but many haven’t...but at least it keeps the people at Sky Sports excited as they have something to get excited about.

But is there any need for the window?

It is about time it was scrapped with clubs allowed to spend their money when they wish rather than when they are told to.
