Burnley Thirds 29 Tyldesley 7
Burnley Thirds are just one point off the top of Raging Bull North West League Division Five after another convincing win against a depleted Tyldesley.
In wet and muddy conditions, Burnley had to slow down their expansive game and concentrate on the set piece throughout the game. With Malcom Kerr jumping in the lineout and winning all of the ball it gave Burnley a good platform to attack the opposition line with Charlie Haynes and Ben Williamson crashing over for the first two tries. Dom Leck then showed his footwork to again dance over the line to make it 17-0 at the break.
The second half started well but Burnley couldn’t break through and were often second best at the breakdown. This allowed Tyldesley to get hands on the ball and ultimately crash over and get a try.
But this spurred on the Burnley pack and they drove a maul from the 22 for the returning Jack Stockdale to grab an easy try. With the Tyldesley defence tiring, Leck threw a 3--yard pass to winger Matt Fisher who ran in for his seventh try of the season.
