NELSON driver Jonny Lang is keeping his options open as he attempts to conquer Europe next season.

After hugely impressive performances on home soil, and narrowly missing out on the British GT Championship, the 26-year-old has the chance to sign for Porsche or Aston Martin to take part in the FIA European GT3 series next year.

And it is understood Lang could be set to commit himself to a deal within the next 10 days.

He said: "I'm looking at lots of deals at the moment. I'm really looking forward to it though. It's quite a big step, but it's going to be good to be able to show off my stuff on the European stage."

Lang has already entered foreign soil and returned victorious having recently claimed a win in the GT Open Series at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona in front of 85,000 screaming fans.

Driving an Ascari GT3 for the newly formed team, Lang took part in the two-hour endurance race with fellow-driver Martin Rich against around 35 GT2 cars and more than 30 GT3.

Qualifying saw Lang take pole, however, Rich could only manage seventh. Taking their combined placings the duo started in second on the grid behind a Lamborghini.

And that's where they stayed until half way through the race when the Lamborghini retired and the pair headed the field.

Lang said: "It was a real baptism of fire because it was a new car, on a new circuit and a new team, but it turned out really well.

"It was such an experience to be sitting there on the grid in front of so many fans.

"There was a long straight to start with and I couldn't stop smiling all the way.

"It was the biggest race I've ever done in terms of the number of cars taking part and the crowd."
