CARRY on regardless has got to be Sean Dyche’s motto, and I’m sure it will be.
The Burnley boss will have been hard at work for weeks trying to bring a new face or two in.
It is not to his detriment or the club’s that it hasn’t been possible.
In fact, it is because they are doing so well this season that fellow Championship teams have been reluctant to do business.
But we must not lose sleep over it. We’ve done more than okay so far with what we’ve got and there’s no reason why our good form cannot continue because of lean pickings in the loan market.
With a busy schedule before Christmas there is a greater risk of injuries and suspensions, but there is no guarantee of either occurring or being avoided. It is all ifs and buts so we just have to take each game as it comes and go with what we’ve got, and hope that it continues to be enough.
Our unbeaten run of 12 games is an impressive one, and although it will be difficult, there is nothing to say that we can’t stay unbeaten until the January transfer window when options can be assessed.
If the squad stays at it is then we will be okay.
We’ve had three difficult games and come out of them rode or less unscathed.
Tomorrow’s game at Huddersfield is another tricky one, but I think we can go there and get the win.
Martin Paterson will be chomping at the bit to stop that from happening. But it doesn’t concern me that he has got back into the side and starting scoring in time for our visit.
He is capable of popping up with a goal, as we we’ll know, but I’m not over-frightened of him. We’ve got to show him respect and pick him up but I think they will have other players in their side that we have to be cautious of.
If we are, then we have enough in our locker to go on and get maximum points.
And then it’s on to Watford.
It seems an eternity since our last home game but with back-to-back ones against the manager’s old club and then Barnsley we have the chance to keep staking our claim to top spot.
It’s when you have this rush of Saturday-Tuesday games that the squad can feel the strain. But we’ve had these busy spells earlier in the season and coped, and I’m sure we will again.
